Roles

Director and Writer

Eleni has experience in writing and directing narrative films including her first film a short drama The Painting (2021) which tells the story of two young lovers Isabella and Marcus, who have high hopes for the perfect start as they move in together only to have their rose-coloured glasses crushed by the discovery of an odd painting gifted by an old lover.

Host Destination (2022) is a sci-fi fantasy drama about a parallel narrative between Katerina and Sloane, who are from two very different worlds, and have their worlds converge by one moment in time. Host Destination has now screened internationally at film festivals and has been awarded and nominated both on a local and global scale.

Her writing style is influenced by her acting experience as well as writers such as Greta Gerwig and Lena Dunham. Eleni’s specific interest is telling authentic stories from a feminine perspective by using the Heroine’s Journey structure to subvert the masculine gaze we see so often.

Her current project Descent (2023) an experimental dark fantasy film about Greek intergenerational trauma explores the life of Demetria, a now-retired restaurant owner in her late 60s. On her birthday Demetria’s consciousness split into two realities, the waking world and the void, the only way to reconnect to her body is to confront her haunting past. Descent is currently in early pre-production and will be commencing production in June 2024.

Eleni not only is interested in narrative form but documentary filmmaking, her recent project Sunset Business (2023) was co-directed and produced in Kuching, Sarawak as part of the New Colombo Plan she was granted a scholarship to participate in this documentary tour with Swinburne University.
